San Diego Bay / One museum or two shores
The landing is
only the beginning.
Choose a maritime visit, a modest bay crossing or an ocean-side Coronado day. They can share a map without fitting into the same short afternoon.
Three different reasons to spend time by the bay
USS Midway Museum: tickets and visitor information
Flagship: Coronado ferry terminals and schedules
Choose the main purpose before buying multiple products. Museum admission, harbor sightseeing cruises and the transport ferry are separate arrangements. A boat image on a combined advertisement should not replace reading the exact route and inclusions.
A ship visit and a measured waterfront remainder
Begin with the museum you chose
Reach the actual entrance with the correct ticket and enough time for the visit. Check the accessible route and any specific space restrictions in advance. A ship’s different decks and passages should not be assumed to have identical access.
Use interpretation, not only the scale
Choose a few parts of the museum to understand in detail: the relationship between workspaces, equipment and the people who used them. Let the exhibits and staff information guide attention instead of treating every visible aircraft or room as another quick photograph.
Take a mainland break
After the principal visit, choose a meal or a short public waterfront section. A comfortable pause makes it easier to decide honestly whether a crossing still fits. Do not buy the next ticket simply because a pier is visible.
Cross only when the remainder works
Use the exact terminal and current sailing if there is time for the far-side visit and return. Otherwise finish on the mainland. A full museum day is not incomplete because the ferry was saved for another outing.
USS Midway Museum: tickets and visitor information
For a no-museum version, begin with a selected public waterfront portion and the ferry as the anchor. It is a different day, not a rushed imitation of the museum route. The useful measure is how well the chosen activities fit together.
Broadway Pier and Fifth Avenue Landing are different departures
Flagship publishes routes from Broadway Pier and the Convention Center’s Fifth Avenue Landing to Coronado Ferry Landing. Choose the actual departure and return table for the terminal you want. Do not stand at one pier using another route’s time, or assume the return lands beside the place where you began.

Flagship: departure addresses and directions
Keep the boarding window and current conditions in the day’s schedule. If the group includes bicycles or needs a particular access arrangement, read the operator’s terms before arriving. A harbor sightseeing ticket is not automatically valid for the transport ferry.
Choose the bay-side pause or the ocean-side day
City of Coronado: beach access and local rules
Do not use the visible road bridge as an improvised pedestrian return. Keep to a confirmed permitted transport route. A missed intended ferry should lead to a checked alternative, not an assumption that every connection shown on a road map can be walked.
For the ocean-side portion, follow local signs and lifeguard guidance; a scenic beach visit is not a promise of swimming conditions. Keep time to leave the shore, collect belongings and reach the correct departure. A last-minute rush across the island is a poor ending to a day planned around the pleasure of crossing the bay.
Before adding more to the day
Does the Coronado ferry arrive directly at the ocean beach?
No. It arrives at the bay-side Ferry Landing. Plan the separate connection to the part of Coronado you want, or keep the visit around the landing.
Can I use either mainland ferry pier with the same departure time?
No. Check the operator’s specific route and terminal table. Broadway Pier and Fifth Avenue Landing are different places and need separate timing checks.
Choose another San Diego day

Balboa Park
Balboa Park is a large cultural landscape with museums, gardens and separate attractions. Choose one or two interests before buying a pass; the zoo is a substantial visit with its own admission and should not be treated as a quick extra.

La Jolla Coast
La Jolla combines coastal walks, coves and protected wildlife habitat. The right route follows current access and marine conditions, with clear boundaries between observing animals, swimming and walking on cliffs.
